Cube-Vision Privacy Policy

Summary

Information we collect

None. We do not operate a server, and Cube-Vision makes no network requests of its own. Because nothing is transmitted, there is nothing for us to store, analyse, sell, or disclose.

Information stored on your device

Cube-Vision saves the following in its own private storage on your device, where it is accessible to the app alone:

• Solve times, scrambles, dates, penalties, and reconstructed move sequences
• Video recordings of your solves, when you choose to keep them
• Your app settings and preferences

Cube-Vision never uploads any of this. It leaves your device only if you deliberately send it somewhere: see "Sharing" below. If you back up your device, these files may be included in that backup, which is handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy rather than by us.

Camera

Cube-Vision uses the camera to record your solves and, if you enable timer hand tracking, to detect the position of your hands. Video frames are analysed entirely on your device, by software bundled inside the app, and Cube-Vision never transmits camera data anywhere of its own accord. There is no server for it to go to.

Recordings are saved to your device, and a recording leaves it only if you choose to share or save that solve yourself, as described under "Sharing" and "Photo library" below. Camera access is requested the first time you need it, and you can revoke it at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Photo library

Cube-Vision does not read your photo library. If you share a solve and choose "Save Video" from the share sheet, iOS asks your permission and saves that one recording to your library. This happens only when you explicitly choose it.

Sharing

Sharing is always something you start. When you share a solve, Cube-Vision hands iOS the solve's details — its time, scramble, and reconstructed moves — together with the video recording of that solve, if one was kept. You then choose the destination: a messaging app, email, AirDrop, or another app on your device. Once you send it, the recording and details are handled by whichever service you chose, under its privacy policy rather than ours.

Shared solves include a "Replay" link to alpha.twizzle.net, a third-party cube-visualisation website, with the scramble and move sequence encoded in the link. Cube-Vision does not open this link itself and sends nothing to that site. If you or the person you shared with opens the link, that site will receive the scramble and moves it contains. It does not contain your name, your device information, or any video.

Children

Cube-Vision is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age.

Retaining and deleting your data

You are in control of everything the app stores. Individual solves and their videos can be deleted from within the app. Deleting Cube-Vision from your device removes all of its data, including every solve record and video.

Because we never receive your data, there is no account to close and no request you need to make to us in order to have it erased.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights over personal data that a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export, or delete on your behalf.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address and the "last updated" date above will change. If a future version of the app ever collects or transmits data, that change will be described here before it takes effect.
